Dear Hungarians in Vancouver,
For those who don’t know me yet, let me introduce myself: my name is Orsolya Kis, I’m a counselor and literary scholar.
I recently moved to Vancouver and am beginning my work in this beautiful new office in West Vancouver next to Ambleside Beach. To mark the occasion, I warmly invite you and your Hungarian-speaking friends to a casual, friendly introductory gathering.
The main focus of the office is community-based healing, and I would like to contribute to that by involving the local Hungarian community. In the future, I also plan to organize Hungarian-language groups where we can talk about topics such as the challenges of living in another culture, Hungarian history and literature, and their impact on us.
This first meeting, however, is simply about getting to know each other: I’ll show you the office, and there will be space for informal conversation and connection with other local Hungarians. The event is especially introvert-friendly—you’re welcome to come even if you don’t feel like talking much. There will be Hungarian books, magazines, and both Hungarian and other snacks; and of course, only those who want to talk will do so.

Kedves vancouveri magyarok!
Aki még nem ismer, engedjétek meg, hogy bemutatkozzam: Kis Orsolya vagyok, pszichológus és irodalmár.
Nemrég költöztem Vancouverbe, és most kezdem a munkámat ebben a szép, új rendelőben West Vancouverben az Ambleside Beach mellett. Ennek alkalmából szeretettel hívlak téged és minden magyarul beszélő ismerősödet egy kötetlen, baráti bemutatkozó alkalomra.
Az iroda fő profilja a community based healing, amelyhez én is szeretnék kapcsolódni – többek között a helyi magyar közösség bevonásával. A jövőben magyar nyelvű csoportokat is tervezek, ahol olyan témákról beszélgethetünk majd, mint a más kultúrában való élet kihívásai, a magyar történelem és irodalmi művek, illetve ezek hatása ránk.
Ez az első alkalom azonban csak ismerkedésről szól: bemutatom az irodát, lehetőség lesz kötetlen beszélgetésre és más helyi magyarokkal való találkozásra. Ez egy kifejezetten introvertált-barát rendezvény – nyugodtan gyere akkor is, ha nem szeretsz sokat beszélni. Magyar nyelvű könyvekkel, újságokkal, valamint magyaros és egyéb finomságokkal várlak; beszélgetni pedig csak az fog, aki szeretne.
