As an immigrant, mother, friend, coach, and partner, I have walked the same path as many of the people I now support. When I came to Canada with my two young children—just 2½ and 4½ years old—I learned firsthand what it means to be alone, without family or support, and how challenging it can be to adjust and integrate into a new country.
Those early experiences became my greatest teachers. They inspired me to keep learning so that I could help others find their strength, confidence, and sense of belonging.
For over 15 years, I have worked as a Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS) at the Vancouver School Board, supporting immigrant and refugee families to navigate the Canadian education system and thrive in their new lives.
I proudly launched the first-ever Farsi Parenting Workshop in Vancouver and have since facilitated countless sessions for parents, youth, and newcomers across schools and community organizations. I deliver workshops on the BC Education System, Women’s Empowerment, Communication in the Workplace, and other community-based topics that support growth, connection, and success.
My YouTube videos, workshops, and one-on-one sessions are all designed to empower families to believe in themselves, build confidence, and move forward with clarity.
In 2015, after being nominated three times, I was honoured to be named one of Canada’s Top 25 Immigrants, recognized for my dedication and community impact. I also serve as a Board Director at the Canadian Iranian Foundation, supporting educational, cultural, and scholarship initiatives.
Today, my work extends beyond education. I integrate wellness, meditation, and motivation into my coaching practice, believing that true growth happens when the mind, heart, and spirit are in balance. People respect me because I respect them—regardless of race, gender, or culture. I do my work with love, compassion, and integrity, always eager to learn and evolve.
“I Am Soheila”
I am Soheila.
An immigrant, a mother, a friend,
a coach who listens, a woman who rebuilds.
I have crossed oceans of fear and found calm in courage.
I have learned that silence can teach,
and love—when shared—multiplies its own light.
I am Soheila—
still learning, still giving,
still believing in human power.
Blessed to serve,
grateful to grow,
and forever inspired
by the beauty of connection.
Why Academic Coaching Matters Now
For many students and families—especially newcomers to Canada—the education system can feel overwhelming.
High school and post-secondary pathways are unclear.
Parents want to support their children but don’t understand the system.
English language barriers can create stress, setbacks, and self-doubt.
Without support, students may lose motivation, choose the wrong courses, or feel they don’t belong. Academic coaching provides clarity, confidence, and step-by-step direction to help families move forward successfully.
What Is Academic Coaching?
Academic coaching is not tutoring—it doesn’t reteach classroom lessons.
It’s also not counselling, because it doesn’t focus on past struggles.
Instead, it’s a practical, future-focused partnership for students and families.
Through academic coaching, you will:
– Create realistic academic and career pathways.
– Effectively navigate the BC and Canadian school systems.
– Build study skills, time management, and exam strategies.
– Strengthen parent–child communication for school success.
– Develop confidence, motivation, and self-advocacy.
